A naked woman was rescued far out in the water from the Newport Beach coast and officials are still flummoxed over how she got there.
Newport Beach Harbor Patrol spokesman Howie Felterup is dumbfounded about the mysterious incident. "I'm amazed that she was able to stay afloat out there in the ocean without a life vest or other floatation device. I can't figure out what kept her from sinking." said Felterup, "Nobody was seriously injured, the water was very, very cold, and one rescue worker was poked in the eye somehow while he was pulling her onto the boat. We're still looking into that." added Felterup.
Around 10 a.m. last Saturday, two kayakers heard a 28-year-old woman calling for help in the water three miles out from the Newport Harbor jetty, reports the L.A. Times. They found the woman—whose identity has not been released—alone without a boat, floatation devices or even a bathing suit. Just to clarify, "she was completely naked," Dir.Ty Sanchez of the Orange County Sheriff's Department Harbor Patrol told TNT.
